Datetimepicker validation

The Validation plugin lets you apply validations to your fields to prevent a form being submitted with invalid values. Meanwhile the jQuery UI Datepicker plugin lets the user select a date from a pop calendar, ensuring a correct entry. A problem arises if the user can also enter a date manually as they may not provide a valid value. The plugin presented here extends the Validation plugin to allow Datepicker fields to be validated before submission.

Download now. Add the jquery. The current version is 1. A new validation rule is defined dpDate that may be added as a class to your datepicker fields or specified in the rules section of the validate settings. As well as checking the text against the current dateFormatthis validator also checks any minDate and maxDate settings and any beforeShowDay callback that might make the date unselectable. Another new validation dpCompareDate lets you compare one date field against another date - either the value of another datepicker field, a specific date, or today.

Specify the rule composed of two parts: the comparison to perform and the reference date to compare with. The comparison is one of the following: 'equal' or 'same' or 'eq', 'notEqual' or 'notSame' or 'ne', 'lessThan' or 'before' or 'lt', 'greaterThan' or 'after' or 'gt', 'notLessThan' or 'notBefore' or 'ge', 'notGreaterThan' or 'notAfter or 'le'.

The reference date can be given as a Date object, as a string in the current dateFormatas the literal 'today', or as a jQuery selector for another datepicker field to extract it from.

The entire comparison rule must be specified in the rules section of the validate call with the name 'dpCompareDate'. Its value can be either a single string provided both parts of the comprison above are stringsas an array with the comparison and reference date as elements, or as an object with the comprison as its attribute and the reference date as that value.

There is also a custom errorPlacement function defined so that the error messages appear after any trigger button or image or before them if using a right-to-left localisation. Unvalidated date:. Validate date:. Validate alternate format date:. Validate right-to-left date:.

Validating the dates picked by the user can be done by using the standard ASP.Represents a Windows control that allows the user to select a date and a time and to display the date and time with a specified format. The following code example creates an new instance of a DateTimePicker control and initializes it. The control's CustomFormat property is set. Also, the ShowCheckBox property is set so that the control displays a CheckBoxand the ShowUpDown property is set so that the control is displayed as a spin button control.

To run this example, paste the following code into a form and call the CreateMyDateTimePicker method in the example form's constructor or Load event handling method.

The DateTimePicker control is used to allow the user to select a date and time, and to display that date and time in the specified format. The DateTimePicker control makes it easy to work with dates and times because it handles a lot of the data validation automatically.

The DateTimePicker control only supports Gregorian calendars. When used to represent a date, the DateTimePicker control appears in two parts: a drop-down list with a date represented in text, and a calendar that appears when you click the down-arrow next to the list. The calendar looks like the MonthCalendar control, which can be used for selecting multiple dates. The calendar will not drop down when the control is selected. The date and time can be adjusted by selecting each element individually and using the up and down buttons to change the value.

The Value property contains the current date and time the control is set to. You can use the Text property or the appropriate member of Value to get the date and time value. You can limit the dates and times that can be selected by setting the MinDate and MaxDate properties.

The values can be displayed in four formats, which are set by the Format property: LongShortTimeor Custom. If you want the DateTimePicker to appear as a control for picking or editing times instead of dates, set the ShowUpDown property to true and the Format property to Time. Customyou can create your own format style by setting the CustomFormat property and building a custom format string.

The custom format string can be a combination of custom field characters and other literal characters. When a DateTimePicker is data-bound and the backing value is changed to nullthe value of the DateTimePicker will not be updated and the previous value will be retained. In situations where this behavior is not desirable for example, when using a set of data-bound controls to page through a recordset use the Format event of the Binding class to set the DateTimePicker to a value recognizable as a null.

Problem 1: when I click button it gives current date even the datepicker is not selected, So how to I check "null' value of datetimepicker. Problem 2: You are using the option incorrectly. The docs read that disabledDates is an array of dates, not a boolean. Quick question on this.

We should use jQuery to check if input box is empty. But how should it be done. But it seems that this is allways the case Even when I have entered an hour or chose one from the datetimepicker. Should i get the moment object from the DateTimePicker then?

But where can I see it's an empty object?
